Is there a show at U Street Music Hall that doesn’t sell out? Last Thursdays Araabmuzik show wasn’t sold out online but within a hour or two of doors being open, like most U Hall shows, it was sold out.  And for good reason, Willy Joy and Araabmuzik are at the top of their game right now.

Willy Joy went on right after the opening DJ, 00Genesis, on the elevated side of U Hall.  I was the most excited to see Willy Joy because his new Wildlife trap mixtape is the best thing out right now. Ive listened to it on repeat since it came out, and it was time for Willy Joy to play it live. He didn’t disappoint playing the biggest tracks off Wildlife like Big Booty, Gurls Anthem and Wild Horses.

Araabmuzik already had his MPC set up on the other side of U Hall and took over right after Willy Joy ended at about midnight.  Araabmuzik had a MC on stage to get the crowd going while both of hands were busy hitting those MPC pads faster than anyone, ever.

The majority of Araabmuziks set were dubstep and electro remixes that were given the Araabmuzik treatment. Which is either a lot faster in terms of bpm, or just more going on in the original song. The Birdy Nam Nam remix of “Goin In” is the fastest thing I have ever heard and tried to dance to. Its already the meanest trap song out and is getting played at a lot of shows, Araabmuziks remix takes it one step farther, watch the out of focus iPhone video from the back while trying my best to not dance and go crazy when it drops.

Willy Joy would come back on after Araabmuziks set and play until closing.  U Street Music Hall is by far one of the best venues anywhere in the world, it was just voted #2 on beatports 10 best soundsystems in the US,  and I’m glad to have it here in D.C.
