“Basslights” was the proper title and description of the 2 day festival atmosphere at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia. The venue looks like a spaceship, lit up at night this place looks out of this world.

NIGHT #1 – 12/28/2012

The first night opened with Griz who had a huge crowd there at the beginning of his set with hands and totems bobbing up and down to his distinctive style of music production and presentation in his live sets.

Big Gigantic took the stage next and the duo put on the usual amazing set of the saxophone / drums tunes their known and loved for. You can never get enough Big G, I wish all the artists could have played longer sets.

Pretty lights show the first night was amazing in every way, occasionally becoming a lazer show that would rival any massive festival setting.

A-Trak with Donnis along side of him were next to hype the crowd and give out a birthday shout out to friend of theMUES Sam Jacobson. With tracks like his & Clockworks’ Spectrum remix and TJR Ode to Oi there wasn’t a second to stop moving during A-Trak’s set.

Bassnectar’s set on the second day of Basslights was an entirely different set and experience, worth seeing both days at Basslights and even 2 days later for new years in Nashville, TN for NYE 360.

Pretty Lights closed the second day with an amazing homage mash up of past artists who had played in the Hampton Coliseum since in opened in 1970, then played I Know the Truth and the place went off.

After a combined 10 hours inside the coliseum in 2 days, it was over. I was personally surprised the event was not sold out and friends could buy tickets at the venue the day of basslights. But the event was amazing and I can guarantee anyone who went this year will go again and tell everyone else they know to come as well.
