People are starting to not believe me because I’m saying this about every show now, but this past BASS NATION Wednesday show with Carnage, Alex Young and Knoxbox @ Uhall really was one of the best shows I have ever been to.
KnoxBox mixed a great set playing tracks like Buygore’s trap remix “Suavemente” and Expendable Youth & CRNKN “GUNFIYAH”, KnoxBox’s set was an energetic non-stop trap mix until he announced “Who misses the days of Dubstep before trap took over?” After overwhelming appraisal from the crowd he dropped Kill the Noises‘ remix of Jokes on you, which is one of my personal favorites and top 10 filthiest tracks, ever.
Next up was the newest talent we have started hearing more and more about, Alex Young. He was introduced by KnoxBox earlier in his set when he said “What were you doing when you were 16? You weren’t doing what he is, and that’s playing Uhall before school tomorrow!”
Alex Young seemed a little rough at first with some transitions but overall a great set with tracks like UZ “Booty to the Ground” going right into Major Lazer’s “Pon de Floor.” My personal favorite song he is getting a lot of recognition for now was featured in Bro Safari’s Diplo & Friends mix in January 2013, SO MUCH! Which is an absolutely unstoppable banger, especially with Uhall’s soundsystem.
When Carnage came onto the stage the crowd immediately reacted with camera flashes from all around and most of the front few rows of fans all trying to give Carnage five. He started his set with some real electro bangers and then moved towards all the trap songs later, I wish I could remember more but by this time I was barely stopping to breath, much less take notes and photos.
It was obvious this crowd wasn’t a random group of Wednesday night Uhall attendees, they were there for CARNAGE! Maryland’s own, who regularly made shoutouts to Uhall, Maryland, Fredrick and Montgomery County, which made the majority of the crowd even more fixed to the dancefloor for Carnage’s performance.
His set literally could not have had more energy, with the front half of U street sweating from the last 10 – 15 minutes of his set when he announced he was playing nothing but new tracks, and introduced his mom who was in the DJ booth for the show that night.
Between all the different genres Carnage was playing and the non stop energy in his set this show was on blast until Uhall turned the lights on around 2:30 am and Carnage announced he had to stop playing, but he said he loved his first show at Uhall and would be back soon. Thank you Carnage, Alex Young, KnoxBox and everyone involved with this show, another epic Uhall night.
