The historic and impressive Howard Theatre hosted two electronic music fan favorites last Thursday night, Koan Sound and Minnesota.
The Koan Sound duo recently released the Dynasty EP, which is four tracks of the future funk sound that is distinguishably their own. And Minnesota even more recently released the Voyager EP, six tracks all for free on his Facebook page. And Thursday night, both DJs descended onto DC as part of their North America Tour, thanks to Steez Promo.
The night started with Bunk Buddha from Baltimore who spun some great house while attendees started to fill the bar and dance floor of Howard Theatre.
When Minnesota took over, he announced, “Let’s get right to it!” and went right into one of the freshest tunes off his new EP, Thunderdome ft. G Jones. Absolutely massive set by Minnesota– he has always brought innovative tunes and mixing to his live sets.
Koan Sound has released some the most unique tracks since they joined forces and started producing together. Dating back to the Max Out and Funk Blaster EP’s to the newest addition, Dynasty, Koan Sound continues to push the electronic music genre further, by not sticking to any genre.
They cook up their own recipe that is art for both your ears and your eyes (just check out their album artwork). It’s sound and style is becoming popular among other producers now, but still cannot be imitated. Thank you Koan Sound, for all you do.
