U Street Music Hall in downtown D.C. was taken over by several different styles of electronic music last night. Ghost Beach opened the night playing on the live stage across the dance floor from the DJ booth.  The duo had a much more lively and electronic performance than their album, with each of the band members using at least one keyboard and one controller. Their release “Miracle” is available for download on Ghostbeachmusic.com

Viceroy was ready to DJ when Ghost Beach finished and used the mic to ask everyone to come back over to the DJ booth side and dance. He had an amazing playlist of disco tracks, and kept the crowd into it as U Street was having sound / mixer problems. For a solid hour and a half he kept people dancing and moving before Le CastleVania.

Le CastleVania raised the energy from the moment he informed the audience they were there to go crazy and party, and went right into his set of hard electro songs. I have always liked Le CastleVania because he created a unique sound that can be distinguished from many other similar producers / DJs.

The crowd was small compared to other times when I have seen Le CastleVania, who had the largest following at this show. And he knew it, before the last few songs he played he said “tell your friends, next time I come here I want this place to be packed!” Still the show was well worth my Thursday night as none of the acts failed to disappoint.
