This was Steez Promo’s first Loaded Festival at Philadelphia’s Festival Pier venue on Saturday May 12, 2012.  Gates opened early around 2:30 with a decent crowd waiting to be the first up front along the railing.  The picture below is Dirtyloud who played an amazing set, different from the show they recently played at U Street Music Hall in DC, which was a nice surprise for those who have seen their show recently.

Attendees had to choose which headliners to enjoy, considering DJs like Wolfgang Gartner and Rusko played at the same time.  Gartner ended about 20 minutes before the 11 p.m. closing time and the entire crowd was outside at the main stage to watch Rusko’s finale.  One of my personal favorite moments of Loaded Festival was earlier in Rusko’s set where he was playing some more ‘conservative’ tracks and then he gets on the mic and says with his English accent “You Thought I Forgot The Greeeasseeee!!” and drops right into a filthy track.  Rusko is one DJ who I can watch and enjoy the show he puts on instead of jumping and dancing until Ive worn my shoes out like I did during Wolfgang Gartner or Lucky Date, who also had amazing performances at Loaded Festival.

(Yes, it’s a pretty bad iPhone picture from the middle of the crowd)

Of course, Flux Pavilion put on an amazing show before Rusko on the Main Stage, he asked the audience before starting “Fancy a dance” and then played a solid block of the amazing melodic songs he is known for.

Downlink played in the tent and had some minor technical problems that drove most of the audience out of the tent. But after returning midway into his set he had attracted the true dubstep fans who know his name and the music he brings.

It wasn’t the greatest show / festival I have been to, but it also wasn’t that expensive and it had a great lineup and energy from the minute the gates opened. I will be going next year as long as ticket prices don’t skyrocket like they seem to for festivals when they gain popularity.

Who had the best performance at Loaded?
