LOUDPVCK, the LA based trap-lord duo consisting of Kenny Beats and Ryan Marks, transformed another edition of Steez Promo’s Bass Nation hosted at U Street Music Hall on Thursday night into their very own bass sanctuary. While Washington D.C. was only one of the stops on their cross-country tour, the show will always be memorable to them as it was their first time ever being the headlining act in the city.
U Street Music Hall is notorious for bringing big name acts and the shows sell out quite frequently. This Bass Nation show was not another ordinary sold-out show though. U Street Music Hall was in rare form, it was so in demand that there wasn’t a ticket to be scalped. People started packing into the line before the doors opened at 10PM. By 11, people were offering upwards of $50 for a ticket for anyone who would be willing to sell any extras, or their own. LOUDPVCK’s headlining set drew fans from all over the East Coast, including two girls that we ran into in line who were frantically looking for tickets after driving all the way down from New Jersey, they eventually found tickets.
The intimate setting with LOUDPVCK was truly a special experience. As a result, we were constantly being treated with brand new music such as the brand new Kill The Noise remix of DC’s own Gent & Jawns off their new FADED EP, TurnUp out now on Mad Decent. And another new record with gLAdiator titled “Tony” was a hit along with a few Ricky Remedy’s records that LOUDPVCK told us on twitter later are a must have in your setlist as such as his remix of D.O.D – More Cowbell and his new record “Break”. The idea of getting the opportunity to experience new music is always my favorite part of any show, and it’s awesome to hear all of LOUDPVCK’s different influences as their sound continues to evolve.

One of the most unique takeaways from this past Bass Nation was the sheer amount of energy that these guys brought with them. Now of course at every show, there’s a high level of energy but this recent Bass Nation show took things to a whole new level. Steez Promo outdid themselves with this one. While most artists will occasionally slip in one or two slower jams to let the energy levels re-charge, that never happened–and didn’t need to happen–with LOUDPVCK.
Every single track was a banger, even the slower “DJ Ease My Mind” was transformed into a soul-shaking bassy track. By the time the night was coming to an end, the guys admitted that they’ve played in DC plenty of times before but the energy and vibe that the crowd sustained was something that they had never previously seen or felt.
Bass Nation with LOUDPVCK, at U Street Music Hall was truly a fantastic show. Washington D.C. embraced their intensity as the duo made the wall’s sweat. A pretty fitting pair to party with, considering that it was the first day marijuana was decriminalized in the district as well.
