U Street Music Hall was lucky enough to host Madeon last night for one of his few US appearances outside of Ultra Music Fest and Coachella music festivals. Opening (and closing) for him was Lightwaves who played a great set of Nu Disco and French House tunes.

Lightwaves came on when the doors opened at 9 p.m. and played until the place was packed at 11 p.m. for Madeon’s 1 hour set. Pictured below is Lightwaves getting the crowd energized for what we all knew was coming.

(More so-so iPhone pictures, but U street is pretty strict on allowing no Audio / Video)

You could feel the energy in the dark basement that is U street music hall, I have been to countless shows there since its opening and this is the first one I can remember that was actually “sold out” online. Tickets were still available at the door for $20.

Madeon had U Street Music Hall going crazy from the moment he took his place behind his laptop and launchpads. Playing all of his singles and other remixes that have gained acceptance and popularity.  I personally went wild when he played his mash up of several Wolfgang Gartner songs into the Madeon style electro.

Madeon and Lightwaves both played singles from Tiesto’s Club Life Volume 2, showing that every song Tiesto puts his name on will be played in Nightclubs regularly all over the world.

This would have to be one of the most intense shows I have attended at U street, up front the crowd was going crazy and by the time I left I was soaking with sweat. Seriously if you were anywhere but the very back of the venue you were swimming in sweat.

Madeon was off at midnight and Lightwaves took over again until closing.  If you didn’t get a chance to see Madeon at a festival this year don’t worry, this kid is going to be touring and making amazing electro for years to come. It was cool to see his father set up his equipment for him, i don’t know if he will still be doing that years down the road.
