Matoma headlined the most recent Nü Androids party at Ai in Washington D.C. Saturday night. He has been riding a wave of success since “Hakuna Matoma” came out close to a year ago. Since that was released, he has been on tour (with another stop in D.C.) and has added more songs to his library of hits, including the newest “False Alarm.”
Now, back in town for the Party At Your Place! fall tour, with a new huge visual flashing at full wattage, Matoma was joined by opening acts Steve James, Steve Void and BAYNK. This show was one of the biggest shows in town over the weekend. It seemed like the whole lineup was excited to play in the nation’s capital, so close to our president’s home.
Playing two blocks from the White House tonight with @MatomaOfficial! Hope to see the @POTUS there! ????

After the energetic and crowd-engaging openers, Matoma started off with his catchy “Hello Vs. Party & Bullshit” remix from last year that now has over 5-million plays on SoundCloud. The entire club was singing-along– all the way from the packed dance floor downstairs to the second level tables and VIP area.
There were a few times later on into the set that the sound was cut off, but the crowd was not deterred chanting “Seven Nation Army” while the problem was taken care of (a pocket of drunk bros were also chanting “U-S-A, U-S-A!” to our Norwegian guest). Later, we did see a staff member bringing out a new CDJ to Matoma, so we assume it was a mix of both technical issues and the huge amount of bass shaking the stage gear beyond function.
This was just the third stop on Matoma’s tour, so check out the schedule to see him at a party near your place. He has a couple dozen performances all across North America through the end of October. Even if you aren’t the biggest fan, come out to see the amazing laser beams and giant neon Matoma face.
