It was another Moombahton All-Star show at U Street Music Hall last night. Steve Starks released his new EP “The Burma” on beatport and everyone was excited for him, especially Nadastrom. His EP is the first release from Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom’s new label, Diabluma Sound.
Sabo threw down another one of his signature sets, making sure the dance floor was moving and full of sweaty people. Even though it’s a pretty simple edit, one my favorite tracks Sabo always plays at the Moombahton Massives is his Oliver $ edit, “Doin Ya Thing.” I always leave U Street with that song stuck in my head yelling at people “It’s working!! Its working!!”
By this point U Street was insane and Nadastrom was taking over to finish Moombahton Massive XV. The majority of the crowd was there until the end, I went to the 7-11 next door at 2:15 a.m. to restock on supplies and the bass from U Street was still shaking their refrigerator doors.
It’s hard to believe about a year ago the first Moombah Massive took place at U Street with a small but loyal following. SInce then Moombahton has gained acceptance and started to dominate the electronic music scene with more strictly Moombah shows popping up all over the US and Canada.
