In the world we live in today, it’s easy to get bogged down by the dark and the destructive.
Turn on the TV or scroll through your newsfeed, and there is just so much bad happening to good, kind people. The hardest part in times like this is to keep going, to continue spreading examples and messages love in our daily routines with so much anger around us.
The good news: We aren’t alone.
There is an organization here in D.C. that promotes making the world a better place. WithLoveDC hosts a variety of local events with the mission to spread joy, love, and acceptance through the District. Any efforts that bring some light to our lives are steps in the right direction.
And this Saturday is their second Silent Disco at Dupont Circle. These events are simply fun. Invite your friends, and make new ones there. The mixtape has been a collaborative effort from invitees and the musical prowess of Choppy Oppy.
Right now there are ten thousand RSVPs on their Facebook page. That’s ten-thousand people right here in town who want to dance together in the name of love. Join us!
The steps are simple. Download the mixtape, dust off your dancing shoes, and push play (with headphones) at 8:00 p.m. with the rest of us at Dupont Circle.
Last time WithLoveDC hosted this event, people dressed up (spotted: a group of minions and a couple of superheroes), a lot ended up getting in the fountain for a very refreshing photo opportunity, and we all danced until it was dark.
And just like it says on their Facebook page, “We dance. We smile. Joy spreads.”
