SMOG City Vol.2 is the latest fresh and diverse compilation of tracks all produced by SMOG artists, and the 38 stop tour up was a huge lineup of the SMOG records biggest acts. (One date was cancelled, VA Beach, due to a snowstorm that jacked up the majority of the east coast)
Two Fresh followed SMOG label mate Steady, and showed why they are one of the fastest rising duos (and brothers) in electronic music right now, with distinctive tracks like Cirque du Solo and Throw That, in their playlists, along with super new cuts by others like Crystals by AWE.
Flinch introduced SMOG Records as the LA based dubstep / trap label and played a bangin’ set of just that, dubstep and trap, listen to everything he has up on his soundcloud here.
Starkey was extra energetic that night at the 9:30 club, I wish I personally knew more of what he played, because it was awesome.
Protohype displayed some truly American visuals along with his signature dubstep sound for over an hour. When the crowd was cheering the loudest in his set, he said “Shout out to everybody happy with their lives right now.”
12th planet really received the full volume of the sound system at 9:30 that night and had everybody going wild. The new tunes off his off Smog City vol. 2 are killers, Le Empty and Smoked Out are absolutely the biggest tunes right now.
12th planet also brought new visuals that included video of himself with all sorts of expressions sped up and camera tricks that were entertaining to everything like tracks off EP’s like The End is Near. There’s no bigger supporter of SMOG than 12th planet, getting the crowd chanting SMOG CITY! in between songs.
A final video with the fans who stayed until the end and the DC SMOG stop was complete, and the whole SMOG City Tour crew was at the merchandise table afterwards, hanging with fans to show their appreciation.
