The #RememberTheLight tour made a stop in DC at Echostage on Friday October 4th, 2013 for one of the last shows on the 12 city tour that went everywhere from Mexico to Montreal, A big difference from last May when we reviewed Thomas Golds’ show at Baltimore Soundstage.
Deniz Koyu came onstage around 11:30 p.m. to a crowd that was already feeling great from an extensive opening set by Tyler Sherritt. This was our first time seeing Deniz in person after watching a Mixify set of his a few months back that was very impressive, he also brought the same personalized visuals to Echostage that were used for his Mixify set.
Koyu played for over an hour with great energy with remixes of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and White Stripes “Seven Nation Army” while the crowd waived around their large, foam glow sticks they were given at the door along with a pair of spectrum glasses.
GlowLand had something for everybody, from the lasers and lights to the live dancers and hula hoopers, and the show was only beginning with Thomas Gold taking over the stage to headline the event, playing crowd favorites like Pierce Fultons’ “Boing Clash Boom” remix.
Then after both played great solo sets, they stood behind the tables together and played for at least another hour. Everyone looked like they were having a great time, having a few laughs and drinks on stage, it would have been a great show anywhere, but it was better because it was at Echostage.
If you missed Thomas Gold at Echostage on Friday, he wont be back around until a new years party in NYC. And if you can’t wait until then for more Thomas Gold follow him on Soundcloud and listen to his regular podcasts titled “Fanfare”, Episode 67 was just released on October 1st and Episode 68 on October 8th.
